Let Winter’s Magic Inspire Your Creativity
Discover the quiet magic of winter through Winter Findings, our latest creative class by Kristy Kensinger. Inspired by the depth and beauty of the colder months, this class invites you to explore muted jewel tones, fluid ink washes, and delicate layers that echo the shifting landscape of snow, water, and sky.
Kristy takes inspiration from her home in Colorado’s winter landscapes, but this class encourages you to find your own seasonal muse—whether it’s crisp mountain air, frost-covered fields, or the subtle warmth of a winter sunrise. Working with inks, watercolors, and a carefully curated color palette, you’ll learn to capture the mood of winter in a way that feels both personal and expressive.
These lessons are short and focused, making them perfect for a creative break in your day. Kristy will guide you through quick, impactful techniques that allow you to dive into the textures, tones, and movement of the season—all in bite-sized lessons that fit into even the busiest schedules.
For added inspiration, you’ll have access to Kristy’s curated reference boards, winter photography, and weekly bonus inspiration to fuel your creativity. Plus, all materials are flexible—you can follow along with Kristy’s palette or adapt the techniques to your own unique style.
Join us in this reflective and intuitive exploration of winter’s quiet beauty, and let’s create something soft, moody, and breathtakingly seasonal together.

What we will learn together…
Explore the Beauty of Winter Through Washes
Learn how to capture the movement and depth of winter using ink and watercolor washes. By working with a limited, muted jewel-tone palette, you’ll experiment with layering techniques and the fluid spontaneity of wet-on-wet painting.
Transform Nature’s Finds Into Art
Take inspiration from your surroundings by collecting leaves, pinecones, and natural elements. Use these “winter findings” to build compositions, create textured studies, and add meaningful details to your work.
Build Confidence Through Art Journaling
Develop a fearless approach to art by working in an art journal. You’ll use sketches, washes, and composition studies to experiment with ideas, refine techniques, and ease into larger works without hesitation.
Master Winterscape Compositions
Learn to create expressive winter landscapes inspired by forests, mountains, and open horizons. Whether working from reference photos or intuition, you’ll explore the balance of structure and spontaneity in composition.
Layering Techniques for Depth and Contrast
Bring your winter landscapes to life by combining watercolor washes with acrylic layering. Discover how ink, washes, and bold contrast can make elements like snow, trees, and skies glow with energy and emotion.
Fuel Your Creativity Beyond the Course
Keep the inspiration going with ideas for expanding your work. From winter animals to seasonal florals, you’ll be encouraged to follow your curiosity, build upon class techniques, and develop your own unique winter-inspired series.
