Birthday Girl

Hello there. Hope your weekend has been lovely so far. I was going to wait till Monday to share these but I found myself with some quiet time and thought I better take advantage of it!

Claire's b'day was such a wonderful day. We had family in from out of town and many friends and neighbors came to celebrate our little girl. We couldn't have asked for a better day. The sun was shining after days of rain, not a cloud in the sky and everyone was more than willing to sit outside and enjoy some food, drinks and of course, sweet Claire. Grace was incredibly excited for her sister and was helpful and supportive. She even made a "sign in" poster that she made all the guests sign as they came in. So cute!

My mother-in-law made some beautiful decorations for the house and I borrowed these great cupcake stands from a neighbor (thanks Christine!) to complete the butterfly and rose dessert table.

I got these precious paper butterflies from this Etsy shop. You can eat them too!

It took Claire a minute to figure out what to do with her cupcake...but it wasn't long before she was stuffing her face.

She was beaming from ear to ear with all the love and cuddles she got.

So grateful for the special time I got with my family and friends...especially my Aunt Iris and Grandmother who traveled all the way from the east coast to meet Claire.

Much love to you all.

Face painting...

Okay, I had to share all these beautiful painted faces from Grace's b'day party...they are too cute! Such lovely princesses were in attendance! Of course, the birthday princess decided she didn't want her face painted! Perhaps, she felt it would have detracted from her tiara...who knows? I thought it best not to argue with her. She seemed to just love watching her friends have fun.

Her pre-school set up the most gorgeous tea room for her. Unfortunately, I forgot my bounce flash so the photos turned out terrible. So sad. Instead of looking at my blurry photos (I have SO much to learn!) let's take a peek at this gorgeous princess tea party...wow...

Birthday Party

I know I didn't post yesterday and I'm super late today but I have good reason. Grace is turning five tomorrow (I can hardly believe it) and it's been a whirlwind of activity! We have family in town, a party to throw...two actually, if you count the family gathering and tonight, her Nana and I decorated and loaded up bags of goodies for all the little girls that will be in attendance at the Princess themed festivities tomorrow. We wrapped up presents and laid out her party dress with a new pair of perfectly shiny, white patent leather shoes. Too cute! I think I've done everything on the list...so why do I still feel flustered? oh well. Let's hope it goes well! I will be sure to take lots of pics to share with you! Okay, off to bed...this princess needs her sleep too! Hope all is well in your world! Sweet dreams.

Keep calm and have a cupcake

Between family coming into town to celebrate Grace's birthday, moving into a new home, trying to figure out how to furnish this new home AND stay in budget, not sleeping and preparing to go out of town, I'm feeling a little exhausted...frayed and frankly, a bit overwhelmed.

Today, my mother literally sent me to my room and told me to take a nap...I think I was being a tad crazy.

A nap was needed.

Upon waking I knew what I must do.

I had to go on a mission to buy cupcakes for Grace's classroom birthday celebration tomorrow.

I grabbed Grace and my mom, led them to the car and took off like a mad woman to Saint Cupcake Deluxe on SE Belmont!

I wasn't coming home until I had two dozen beautiful cupcake creations in my possession.

Well, at least I got one thing on my list done.

For the first time this week I felt a bit better, calmer.

Amongst the chaos, the boxes, the mess...I sat, devoured a chocolate cupcake and smiled.

Hope you are having a productive and happy week so far.

If not...go on a cupcake run.

Ivy

p.s. As a sweet bonus, this newly remodeled Saint Cupcake location is tied to a fabulous home decor and gift store called Noun - a treasure trove of unique vintage decor, accessories and art. Yummy treats for your tummy and your home. Love that combo.

Check out some of these lovelies...

And the charming shop...

Birthday treat - Chocolate Bread Pudding

Today was my hubby's birthday, so Grace and I decided to make him his favorite dessert - Bread Pudding! We had a blast putting it all together and it tasted fantastic. We are quite the team in the kitchen!

The best part about the recipe - it's from Cooking Light so it's not super loaded with fat!

Here is it.
