Birthday Girl

Hello there! I know...long time no post...sorry. It's been a whirlwind with Grace's birthday and then Easter. Busy but fun with lots of phototaking! I have too many photos to process....but in the meantime I wanted to share a few shots from her little "Princess" party...

more to come...

Hope all is well with you!

xo,

Snow day

If you've been reading my blog, you know that we have had many false predictions of snow this winter...much to my disappointment. But today, we finally got the white stuff! We woke up to a winter wonderland and I quickly got dressed and ran outside with Grace to take pictures...

Grace was reluctant to model for me, but for the bribe of two Hershey kisses she did a fabulous job!

Hope you are having a beautiful day where you are too! Snow or not.

A little bird...

A couple of days ago, Grace and I sat down at our craft table and started some collages. Using some inspiration from Kelly Rae Roberts' book : "Taking Flight" we made patchwork backgrounds and added figures on top. It was so wonderful to sit, listen to soft music and quietly paste squares of color onto our cardboard canvases. Long after Grace went to bed, I continued to work...

the end result...

I love how, for me, collages evolve. I don't always have a clear direction. I try and get my head out of the way and go with my intuition...slowly, a story emerges and the piece takes on it's own meaning.

Love that feeling!

Got any creative projects underway? I'd love to hear about them...

Have a lovely Wednesday.

xo,

p.s. if and when, Grace finishes her collage I will share it with you. It's looking really cute...

A cake fit for a queen...or a princess.

I went dark there for a while with all the family coming in and then our vacation to Hawaii so I've got some blogging to catch up on. I know this happened back in April but I had to share the cake that our dear friend Katie made for Grace's 4th birthday. It was truly inspiring and Grace was beyond delighted.

I can't even imagine how many hours she put into this cake...

She made each tiny little flower by hand and then painted them too!

Grace was amazed by the cake and couldn't take her eyes off of it...so cute.

Katie let her apply some of the delicate little blooms to the castle walls.

A VERY happy Birthday girl!

Thank you again, Katie for all your hard work, talent and friendship. I know Grace will always remember this cake!

Check out Katie's fabulous blog for more info on how she designed and constructed this gorgeous creation.
