I wanted to invite you to come create with me at Donna Downey’s fabulous studio! I’ll be teaching a wonderful Abstract workshop based on my best selling class - Abstract by Design!
To me, Frida is a great representation of courage but when we hear the word courage we often think of action- brave action, take charge kind of action. Quitting the job, confronting that person, leaving that marriage, speaking in front of crowds, wielding a sword, leading troops into battle, saving a child from a burning building and yes, most certainly these things take great courage.
Today I wanted to pop in and share a video with you from a spontaneous Live Chat I had with the Studioworks Academy group! I felt compelled to jump online and discuss how to handle criticism in art making.
I hope this offers some support to you when dealing with this. I absolutely loved chatting with the group about living a creative life.
It took me a while but I’ve realized that for many years I drove myself to create constantly so I would have “something” to post on social media. Embarrassing to admit but the absolute truth. I found myself feeling rushed, competitive, anxious. Feelings I don’t enjoy.
The constant urge to be validated, to soothe my ever hungry ego. One more like. One more comment. My ego devoured each one, a momentary satisfaction, only to be left feeling empty once again.
I hope you are well! With Spring fast approaching, I’ve been noticing tiny blossoms beginning to bloom! I’ve also been noticing lots of beautiful floral watercolor creations in our community! I think there must be a connection right?!
So today, we wanted to share this lovely and inspiring “Watercolor Warmup” video from Natalie Mecham’s wonderful class - Wandering through Watercolor!
