Let's Face It: Inspired by Portraits
Hello creative friends! How is your week treating you? I hope all is well in your world.
You may or may not have noticed that I've been a little obsessed lately...and not just with Art in general but in particular - Portraiture! I've always loved drawing faces but recently its become a daily practice of pushing myself, striving for more accuracy, expression and depth. I'm exploring techniques and mediums like never before and after I complete one face I quickly begin another.
All this energy has sprung forth for a couple of reasons...but the MAIN one is because I accepted an opportunity to teach on the Let's Face It Online workshop! This year has been about growth, so I've said YES to the wonderful doors that are opening to me! However, I had no idea what an impact this would have on my own deep desire to hone my skills and better my practice as an Artist.
Here is some of the work I've been doing to prepare to teach this class...
It started with black and white charcoal studies...
and has now led me to color too...looks like I'm a teensy bit in LOVE with my new Sennelier Soft Pastels!!!
I'm enjoying the feeling of a challenge and there is nothing better than feeling yourself expand! This class will be so wonderful. I do hope you will join me and the other talented teachers for this fantastic Portraiture class!
I can't wait to share some of my own techniques and creative processes!
xo,
Ivy
