Hello my wonderful creatives!

I am Yvonne Morell, a mixed media artist from Switzerland. I love color and often use many hues in my work! BUT lately I have loved the softness of a monochromatic palette. It seems so perfect for women’s portraits. I’ve created an entire series, in different colors exploring techniques with acrylics, inks, collage and the exciting possibilities of line work and mark making!

I am excited to share my process with you since I love the freedom mixed media offers. Painting, printing, adding collage, working with a palette knife and using oil pastel… it’s going to be so much fun!

This class is for ALL levels! I hope you join us!

xo,

Yvonne

Here is a series that I created

Here's a description of each of our special projects:

Warm ups - Creating flowers with different mediums (soluble and non soluble)

To practice, lets explore drawing loose flowers with different mediums. Knowing our materials is important to make the most out of them.

Lesson 1 - Portrait on a creative background

For our first project we will jump right in and get creative with the base of our canvas. Layering with brushwork and palette knife, collage, lines, it is time to let go and have FUN! Inspiration and ideas appear with base work like this and we will explore painting a portrait this exciting backdrop.

lesson 2 - Planning the project

Here, we take some time to work with color and develop our color palette! We will also design our next painting and plan the necessary steps!

Lesson 3 - Monochrome portraits

In this project, we layer monochromatic colors and let our portraits emerge, soft and undefined. We will also add flowers in charcoal or pencils combining painting and drawing. You are going to love these added feminine details!

Bonus lesson - Finishing a painting

It feels very rewarding to finish a painting properly. I will share with you what varnish you can use, how to make a clean finish and a painting ready to hang.

I will also share with you how to take pictures of your art without any professional equipment to have a high quality version and that you can use for prints or simply to document your paintings.
