Hello fellow creative souls!

I am so excited to once again share my magic world of Mixed Media Art with you. I hope you are doing OK in these trying times and that you are allowing yourselves time to ‘feed’ yourself emotionally, spiritually and physically.

Dare-to-start-1.jpg

I think it is really important that we regularly recharge ourselves with energy. We all have our own different ways to achieve/manage this… and because you are reading this, I guess one of your ways is to be creative. I know it can be hard to actually start, to pick up a brush and make the first stroke. There are always a hundred reasons why not to start, but there is only one reason TO start – you!

This class lays out a simple and relaxed process with a number of tricks and paths to get going, to just begin. I will show you how to just START even though you are lacking inspiration and without feeling guilty that you should be doing something else!  I focus on how to create just for the sake of creating, how to focus on your journey and your energy rather than the result. Together we find ways to be brave and to do art just for us and our souls …because when you do, I know you will create some magic and you won’t stop!  Your energy will shift and you will be a magnet for ideas, insights and inspiration. It might take time but I will help you to not give up, just keep going, and create.

My ultimate goal with this class is that you will find a way to just start, to dare, to begin, be inspired, and play – and I’ll help you on the way if you get stuck!

I hope you will join me!

Love,

Jenny

Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.

Here's a description of each of our special projects:

Lesson 1 - Dare to start

In this lesson, I will show you how to just get started. I begin by making marks with collage and paint with no goal, no structure and no intention to create anything specific, beautiful or cohesive. I am just finding a way to get over the block or procrastination of me not starting. This process is about doing, about moving, about getting over the fear of starting. When you have those marks on the paper it is sooo much easier to take the next step.

I end the lesson with cutting up the “mess” I made into smaller pieces. This is a moment of magic. I end up with 10 really cool pieces!

lesson 2 - Keep going with ease

In this lesson, we will step by step add to the small pieces. With simple prompts, we will add contrasting marks and create variation, depth and details. It is amazing to see the transformation when we let go of the need to create something beautiful but just focus on the feeling and the fun. We will be present, we will feel and just do. That’s it! And when we let go of the requirements to perform, magic can start to happen again!

lesson 3 - Be bold

In the third lesson, I will ‘feel’ and let the image appear in the background. We will focus on a couple of bold moves to push through the block we might encounter when we are scared of ruining or making a mistake or end up with a result that isn’t ‘pretty’ or perfect. We will with simple moves create and not get stuck. I bring in elements of grunge and as soon as I feel I am becoming stuck I do a bold move. To spend time creating is the purpose, not the result.

Bonus lesson - More play to get started

In the bonus lesson, I will show you some other simple ways to play and to get over the procrastination or lack of inspiration. Your energy will shift while working and you will be a magnet for ideas, insights and inspiration. Dare to just play!

What will you learn:

  • How to start when you have no inspiration or feel you are blocked or empty.

  • To work based on feelings rather than purpose. To choose colors, patterns and images based on what feels good.

  • To be brave and do some bold moves to make sure you do not get stuck

  • To create detail, depth and grunge with layers of collage, paint and gel pens.

  • To express yourself in a raw and relaxed way, free from rules and constraints.

  • And more…
