Splashing our way through the elements of design and watercolors.
Exploring the beauty of transparent colors as we add texture, acrylic inks, mixed media and other fun surprises along the way. Breaking down the painting process in simple steps.

Here's a description of each of our special projects:
Warm-Up Lesson - Floral Collage
We will be looking at the elements of design as we begin our watercolor journey. Color, shape, line, balance and repetition are used to create a fun and imaginative floral design. Creating unity and harmony within a painting.
Lesson One - Watercolor Pour
If you have ever tried Watercolor Pour in your paintings, you will know how much fun it is. Using primary colors as we add Frisket and pours to our painting. Allowing the paint to flow freely about the painting. Developing a soft, loose and lovely impressionistic floral arrangement with the tools mentioned above.
Lesson Two - Negative Space
In this lesson, we will create a floral painting using fun tools to bring attention to our main subject. And, discussing and creating the negative space that surrounds it. How to draw attention to the main subject matter, as we work around and in-between the main shapes. Using wet on wet watercolor techniques.
Lesson Three - Mixed Media Hydrangeas
In this lesson, we will create a still-life using vintage papers, collage, ink and watercolor. The object is to create an interesting background and apply the principles of design as we create a fun and creative mixed media floral painting. A fun slant on working with watercolors to add interest and other elements to this medium.
Bonus Lesson - Flamingo
This bonus lesson combines inks and watercolors, using many of the principles we have learned in this watercolor journey. Splashing color and splatters onto the page to create movement and energy in a painting. Staying loose, no expectations, just enjoy the process.
I love the graceful beauty and color of a flamingo. A flamingo represents beauty, balance, grace and confidence.
My hope is that through this artistic watercolor journey, you have left your inner critic behind and gained more confidence in all your artistic endeavors!
