Hello my wonderful creatives!

In this class we will explore the wonders of adding Cold Wax Medium to your oil paints to create beautiful textures and layers! Since I discovered the Cold Wax Medium, my creative process changed completely, giving me so much more freedom to create! I will show you how I built up my paintings and how I add my girls to a textured background. You will soon be as hooked on the Cold Wax Medium as I am!

I am so excited to share all my techniques with you and I hope you will join me on this journey, whether you are new to Cold Wax Medium or have already worked with it, this class is for all levels!!

Lesson 1 : Get to know your colors!

Who of you is an art supply addict? I definitely am! But what I have learned over the years is that it is more important to know the properties of the paints you have than buying endless new colors. In this lesson we will have a closer look at your paints, are they Transparent or Opaque, Warm or Cool?

Lesson 2 : Value exercise

Before we start our main lessons, we will study the values, the most important element in art. The variety of values in your painting can make make a huge difference! At the same time, we will get used to working with a bowl scraper and a palette knife instead of brush!

Lesson 3 and 4 : A textured girl on Paper

Now the fun part starts! We start building up our background and then add our figure. We will create beautiful textures and layers with different mark making and drawing tools, like stencils, bubble wrap and more! I will show you how I mix my colors to get a harmonious color palette. It is all about exploring this wonderful medium!

Lesson 5 : A layered lady on Panel

In this lesson, we will combine everything we have learned so far. We will be layering our panel with several layers before adding the figure. I will show you how I transfer my figure drawing to the background and how we integrate her into the painting. By now, I am sure you are as hooked on the Cold Wax Medium as I am!

Bonus lesson : Finishing touch

In this short video, I will show you how to add the finishing touch to your painting and display them in a beautiful way!
