Are you someone who is passionate and has a strong connection with animals? I truly believe we have a special bond with the creatures that share this world with us. Each one of them are unique and special. I believe this is why we relate to animals so much, because we see a lot of ourselves in them. Whether you are a beginner artist, or an artist that wishes to expand their knowledge on how to create animal portraits, this class is for you!
For this workshop we will have three main lessons, and one bonus project! We will complete a black and white portrait painting with fur, a full colored portrait painting with fur, and a full colored portrait painting with a textured effect. We will also focus on different portrait angles (both front and side profiles). We will go in depth for each project on how to create and bring out each animals fun and sweet personalities!

Here's a description of each of our special projects:
Lesson 1 - Black and White animal portrait
We will be creating a painted portrait of a Llama!
For this lesson we will focus on how to paint an animal portrait in black and white and how to use detailed lines to make his beautiful fur come to life!
Lesson 2 - color mixing
We will now continue from what we learned in the previous lesson and bring our adorable fox to life by adding color! We will now focus on a side profile and use a limited pallet, mixing colors together to create highlights in his fur and how to paint bright colorful eyes!
lesson 3 - Texture and brush techniques
For our final lesson we will paint a colored portrait of a turtle! We will learn how to create a textured effect by using a wet and dry brush technique to create both his skin and shell.
Bonus lesson - painting feathers
For this BONUS lesson, we will create a small portrait of a robin! The main focus for this lesson will be on how to paint feathers.

The list below is only a suggested list! I recommend trying to use what you already have unless you really want to go out and buy some new supplies.
Canvas board (Any stretched canvas or canvas board will work well.)
5” round brush (Any small round brush that you like to use for blending.)
A small detailed brush
Large Flat Brush (To paint the black on your canvas board.)
Pencil for sketching and eraser
