Well hello there my creative friends!
I'm so excited to announce that Sacred Landscape now has over 800 students internationally! I've been studying landscapes, abstract and figurative work. One day, I sat down and they all came together.
This thrilled me and I found the process, both rewarding and expressive! By combining collage, paint and my other favorite materials, I found myself creating evocative and emotional work.
I knew right away, I had to share this process with you.
Throughout my art school years, I had trained in both figure drawing and painting but now paired with my love of collage and mixed media, I have discovered a new way to make extremely satisfying work that I know you will love!
*Plus - while we create three finished paintings we will simultaneously be studying color and composition.

Here's a description of each of our special projects:
As always in my classes we will be drawing inspiration and knowledge from artists both past and present., including two of my favorites - Pablo Picasso and Helene Schjerfbeck. So, get ready for some art history to boot!
Project 1 - The single figure in space
Our first project will be very similar to one you see above. We will be not only creating an expressive figurative landscape but we will be using a primary color palette. I will show you how to push these three colors into a range of colors and harmonize both the strength and subtly of this palette. We will discuss both composition and balance with a focus on evoking emotion thru the language of the human form.
Project 2 - A grouping
In this painting we will focus on using two or more figures interacting with each other within an abstract landscape. A blend of rhythmic form, tension and the suggestion of connection will activate this piece and produce emotional and moving work. Often less is more. When the viewer has to sit and contemplate a piece is when emotion arises. Abstraction allows for mystery. I'll be showing you where to add detail and where to let things fade away. We will be creating this piece in a complimentary color palette.
Project 3 - In Repose
This piece will focus on the figure in repose - a quiet, reflective and peaceful painting done in monochromatic color palette. This one will be about gentle shifts in value, form and contrast. A beautiful and reflective composition, that I know will bring you much joy and will be a delight to create.

Who is this class for?
Artists of all levels who wish to explore an expressive approach to their work while learning more about composition and color theory. This class does not require any previous figure drawing or painting experience. It is perfect for those wishing to evoke more emotion through their art. Expressive art is very healing and a rewarding style to practice and experience. Therefore, those looking to delve deeper and perhaps even release emotion will find these methods very cathartic.
