Hey there! Thank you for being part of the our Facebook group! We are so excited to have you!
Our groups are a place to assist & encourage fellow creatives and to ask questions. Please be kind and respectful of one another. Our groups are intended to be a safe and supportive environment for creative souls.
To keep the group running smoothly, we do have a few rules that members must abide by. If you don’t abide by the rules, then you are subject to removal from the group (which would stink, because we really think you’ll want to be part of this amazing community).
**Please note that these rules are constantly being added to. Check back often!**
---------------------------------------------
Got a new rule I should add? Please email hello@ivynewport.com with your suggestion.
Please do not send private messages to Ivy and Chris Newport (the admins of the groups). We prefer to communicate via email to keep things organized and make sure we can respond to your questions in a timely manner. Thanks for understanding!
---------------------------------------------
1. No promotions.
This means that you may not:
Post links to your website, social media, or Facebook Group or Page.
Post affiliate links or links to your products (within the comments is not allowed either)
Create a thread asking for members to submit guest posts, interviews, etc. to your site.
Create a thread asking for members’ emails or to ask members to email or PM you.
Post surveys.
Create a new post with a link to your new blog or website. You’re welcome to let us know that you just launched your blog and to share the excitement, but do not include any links.
Exception: If someone starts their own thread, asking for help, and you happen to have a blog post or piece of content that perfectly answers their question, you are more than welcome to share a link to it in the comments of that thread.
Fabulous Fridays: Every week, we have our “Fabulous Fridays” post. That means that IN THE COMMENTS of the post, you have our complete permission to promote the heck out of what it is that you're up to. Your blog, latest artwork, your new workshop, your website! Share it, link to it, sell yourself and show us how fabulous you are! After all, we are here to cheer each other on!
If you’re wondering, “Can I post a link to my website/social media so that I can get feedback on something?” The answer is no. Please post a screenshot.
2. No public shaming or bullying.
This is not the place to gossip about people online or disparage others with rude comments. The Ivy Newport, Studioworks and Creative Spark communities are full of some of the kindest, most helpful people on the internet, and we are not about to stoop to name-calling or trashing other people’s work. If you are publicly shaming someone or a group of people, you will be removed.
3. No promotion of your own Facebook group or page.
If you wish to promote anything, please reserve it to our “Fabulous Fridays” post. We can't wait to see and hear what everyone is up to!
Who knows, you might connect with someone or find something useful for you too!
4. No “link sharing” threads.
A “link sharing” thread is when you create a new thread and ask people to share a link to their Pinterest profile, Instagram, etc. Admins will create these threads for your benefit from time to time, so there is no need to create your own. Having an excessive amount of “link sharing” threads makes the group feel spammy and less useful. Don’t do it.
5. No pornographic material or spam.
This should be obvious, but we have to mention it :)
6. Facebook live is only to be used by admins and invited guests.
Please do not host a Facebook Live session inside the group. You will be removed. Facebook Live sessions are only to be used by group admins.
7. Brands may not post collaboration/sponsored post offers.
Brands may not publicize their offers and collaboration opportunities within the group, aside from within the designated “promotions” or “collaborations” threads created by Ivy Newport, Studioworks and Creative Spark on a weekly basis.
8. After a post has 100 comments AND is at least 24 hours old, we reserve the right to close commenting on the thread.
Sometimes, community members will create threads that quickly receive hundreds of comments. We love the engagement of this group, but we feel that 100 comments is plenty in order to answer a question and that after 100 comments, many people often say the same things that others have already posted, making the thread repetitive. Though, the main reason for this rule is that other people’s questions are pushed down the feed and therefore go unanswered since no one saw them.
So, we will “close commenting” once a thread has hit 100 comments AND is at least 24 hours old, just to be fair to other members whose questions are getting pushed down the feed and therefore, not being seen or responded to.
We hope that 100 comments is still plenty of advice and feedback for the thread creators. “Closing commenting” does not delete the thread or comments, it just makes it impossible for people to leave more comments. Should you want to continue a conversation after a thread’s commenting has been closed, you are welcome to send a private message to another member.
9. No threads asking for people to comment if they are in a certain niche or industry (even if you’re looking for someone to hire).
For example, “who else is a vegan blogger in here?” or “I’m looking to hire a designer, leave your links below.”
We want you to build natural, organic connections, but threads like this can easily clog up the feed and are not helpful to the majority of members who need their questions answered.
10. Please keep posts on-topic for anything related to Creativity, Creative business, creative process, etc related themes.
Posts that are not in some way related to the mission of the group will be deleted.
11. You may not private message users with unsolicited business promotions.
Please do not use our group as a place to send unsolicited promos to people in the community. If they chatted with you in a thread about wanting to work together, then sending a private message should be fine. However, if it is discovered that you are sending PMs to people without their permission, then you will be removed from the group.
RESPONSE TIMES
If you wish to have a response to your post, be sure to tag the person you’re trying to reach. Facebook feeds can be challenging to manage (to say the least)… if no one responds, feel free to tag that person again inside the comments of your post to move your post back to the top.
We always strive to reply in a timely manner, please allow 24-48 hours during normal business days for a response.
