Whimsical Portraits and Dreamy Landscapes

Whimsical tutorials for you…

Here's two special bonus projects for you as we go back in time and visit my very first online class - Whimsical Portraits & Dreamy Landscapes - A Mixed Media and Encaustic Workshop.

It’s fun to look back and still enjoy these two mixed media projects! They are really fun and you will see me work on them simultaneously. It can be very handy to have two projects going at once especially when using encaustic wax since you often have to let your work cool before moving on to the next step. This way we can keep moving and stay in the creative flow!

Let me tell you a little bit more about these super fun projects:

The first one will show you how to incorporate your own photography into a mixed media collage PLUS we will be using gorgeous, shining gold leaf! If you don’t have any photos, you want to use feel free to use magazine images, scrapbook paper or any other collage element that makes you happy. Or you can find wonderful images from my curated image library too!

The second project also builds on the techniques you’ve learned, plus I show you how to embed 3D objects right into the wax! It’s very cool!

***Before you get started, if you have no experience with encaustic wax, I encourage you to check out my free wax set up and safety video below.***

As for materials, you will need two small boards. I used 5” x 5” cradled wood boards but any rigid substrate will work. Also, you may want to locate a little trinket, jewel or 3D object that you will be embedding into the wax. See full materials list below…

Okay let’s begin!

I hope you enjoy…

So what did you think about the Gold leaf? Crazy delicate but so pretty right? Well, my creative friends...I hope you have enjoyed these tutorials! I look forward to seeing some of your creations in the Facebook group.
