What is Studioworks Creative Academy?

Well hello there my creative friends!

I am delighted to introduce you to the wonderfully talented Petra Hrziwnatzki! I am so honored to have her here to share this beautiful class with you!

Petra's light burns brightly and her artwork carries that glow within it. She infuses her work with meaningful words and quotes that resonate with her soul. Through the use of mixed media and collage she creates pieces that uplift, inspire and comfort.

Project 1

In this first lesson we will be working on a small piece of mixed media art that has a quote printed out and pasted on the front.  We will be working with a stencil, paint, papers, ephemera, paint pens and alcohol inks!  All to create a piece of art that is really to where you are wanting to go in your life.  Use a quote that really represents the path you want to be taking.  The first layer I want you to go big!  Write quotes, words or even plant your first seed and write a big dream down!  No one will ever see it!

Project 2

We are going big!  In this lesson we will be working on a larger wood panel or canvas.  We will be placing a large mandala stencil in the middle of the canvas and using gel medium to create some texture with our stencil! We will use the same process for the background as the first lesson but this time we will hand write the quote with paint.  You can also print out the quote if you are not comfortable. This will be a piece that you can hang up in your space!

Project 3

This is a bit different but I love making these!  We will be using paint and collage to create a moody, peaceful piece of art.  We will be scribbling a quote into the misty bottom and gluing down papers with a purpose.  This is a simplified art project but you can make it your own with images that speak to you. 

I will be guiding you through several topics and techniques such as:

• Paper collaging with ephemera and pattern papers

• Stenciling with paint and molding paste

• Finding words and quotes that resonate with you

• Applying quotes with glue

• Detail work with paint pens and rub ons

• Using photographs in a collage to add interest

• Journal Collaging with magazine images

• Using journaling to plant seeds of change and align your intentions

• Creating unique art that is meaningful and personal to you

• Gel Medium Matte or collage glue*

• Vintage papers* - you can even photocopy or scan and print some old letters, recipes or other paper from your own family!

• Patterned papers/Scrapbook paper or wrapping papers*

• An old credit card or a card from a deck of cards*

• Tissue paper or sewing pattern tissue paper*

• Alcohol inks*

• Rub ons (optional)
